What's Fresh at Sixth Street and Celilo October 2007

Ok, the list is almost too much to cover, but in addition to the usual things, we are seeing tons of mushrooms! (Chanterelles, Porcini, and later, just before the hard freeze, Matsutake, and others.....including truffles) Much of it we cook off and keep for later in the winter, and the same could be said to the beginnings of the root vegetable items....Prarie Creek Farms Potatoes (amazing) and beets, carrots, sweet onions, and the like.

There's the usual Squash varieties as well, and Fall means.....well it means meat products too. September is the time the protien start comming in, and there's alot of it, to be sure. I'll go light on the details.

Great time to taste the heartiness of fall. Think Oranges and Browns........
